Detailed Description
An incredible wine from a marvellous vintage in the Columbia Valley. Intensely perfumed Asian spices, black and blue fruits, plus a whiff of cocoa powder and lavender. Lightly tannic, the palate reveals a wonderful tension, where flavours of ripe date and mocha combine with creosote and black liquorice. The long, mineral and black fruit finish is lifted by light herbal tones. Sensational now, this has at least another decade ahead of it.
Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: A monumental wine in the making, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those wines that presents such an over the top array of aromas and flavors that it’s hard to figure out what you think about it with just a quick glance. It’s only with the second or third sip that you really start to see how special this effort truly is. Offering up perfumed, intense aromas of plum, violets, ink, licorice and black currants, it flows onto the palate with a massive, incredibly full-bodied texture that builds through the mid-palate and carries layers of polished tannins, awesome purity of fruit and blockbuster length. Most likely not for everyone given the sheer size, it is an incredible wine in my opinion. Still tasting like a barrel sample, it will have 30+ total years of longevity.

Producer Information
Based in Snohomish, northern Seattle, Quilceda Creek Winery is one of Washington’s most prestigious boutique wine producers. The winery’s focus is on Cabernet Sauvignon, which has been very well received: the 2002 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon was the first American wine outside of California to be awarded 100 points by US wine critic Robert Parker. The winery was founded in 1978 by Alex Golitzin, who was inspired to make wine by his uncle, the now legendary André Tchelistcheff – one of the most significant winemakers in California at the time. Alex Golitzin’s son, Paul, began working at the winery in 1992 and is now the winemaker.Quilceda only produces a small number of wines, and the flagship is the Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit for this is sourced from some of the best Washington vineyards in Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills, including the Galitzine Vineyard, the Wallula Vineyard and the Palengat Vineyard.
