2008 | Domaine Guiberteau | Saumur Les Motelles
Red Wine: 2008 | Domaine Guiberteau | Saumur Les Motelles
A beautiful expression of red fruits, strawberry, raspberry with an impression of chalk. A wine with polished tannins, without too much power but with a certain salivating force and always this tangy side of red fruit.

Producer Information
Domaine Guiberteau is a well regarded, minimal-intervention wine producer based in Saint-Just-sur-Dive, just south of the town of Saumur, in the Loire Valley wine region of western France. The domaine produces a range of Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc-based wines. The domaine covers 17 hectares (42 acres) of vineyad, predominantly around Saint-Just and neighboring communes. The Guiberteau domaine has been producing wines since the eponymous family established itself in the area in 1934. Romain Guiberteau has run the estate since 1996 and produces a small range of red (entirely Cabernet Franc) and white (Chenin Blanc) wines, all made from within the Saumur appellation although many bear smaller (albeit unofficial) subregional or vineyard titles, such as Brézé (after the commune within the appellation in which the grapes are grown) or Le Clos de Guichaux. The estate vineyards have been run organically since 2003 and all harvests are done by hand. Wines are made with no additions bar minimal sulphur prior to bottling.
