Producer Information
Bersano Vini is a wine producer located in the winemaking region of Piedmont in northwestern Italy. The estate has its origins in Asti and was formed in the early part of the 20th Century. Today, it makes a range of regional wines, including Barbera d’Asti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Monferrato and Moscato d’Asti, as well as operating a Tuscan project: Granducato. The estate now comprises a total of 230 hectares (570 acres) of Piedmontese countryside and is owned by the Massimelli and Soave families. The oldest of the Bersano Vini vineyards lie at the company’s 12-hectare (30-acre) Cascina Cremosina estate in Nizza Monferrato, in the Barbera d’Asti DOCG zone. The newest addition to the portfolio is located in Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato and is planted to 32 hectares (79 acres) of vine. Red grape varieties including Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera and Brachetto lead the way in Bersano’s portfolio. In terms of white grape varieties, Cortese makes an appearance in several expressions of Gavi and Cortese dell’Alto Monferrato, and Bersano Vini also makes several Arneis- and Moscato-based labels.
