Producer Information
Domaine des Lambrays is a producer located in Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. The domaine is best known for its Pinot Noir wines from the Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru vineyard, over which it has a near monopole. The wines are highly acclaimed by critics, regularly scoring highly in several publications. In addition to the flagship Grand Cru wine, Lambray also produces Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Les Loups. This is made from the younger vines on the Clos des Lambrays vineyard, combined with fruit from the Clos Sorbet vineyard located at by the domaine house and cellar. The wolf (loup in French) is the emblematic animal of Morey-Saint-Denis, appearing on the village crest as well as the domaine’s. The third red is a village-level Morey-Saint-Denis wine mostly sourced from vines lying just above and to the north of Clos des Lambrays. A Bourgogne Rosé is also bottled. Domaine des Lambrays also makes a pair of Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Chardonnay white wines. Since 1993 it has owned a 1.55-hectare (3.8-acre) parcel of Clos du Cailleret and a 1.2ha (3-acre) holding in Les Folatières. In 2012 a single cuvée of white wine – Les Louves was made. Finally, the domaine has also made Fine des Lambrays, a grape Brandy. This is matured for seven years in oak after distillation.
