Producer Information
Beni di Batasiolo is an Italian winery in the northwest region of Piedmont, best known for its range of Barolo wines. The estate has 106 hectares (261 acres) of vineyards of which 60ha (148 ac) are planted to Nebbiolo, the dominant grape of the region. Batasiolo’s Barolo vineyards are located in highly regarded areas, including La Morra, Serralunga d’Alba and Monforte d’Alba. The flagship wine from the company is the Barolo DOCG Riserva, produced from the Nebbiolo grape variety. It is fermented in stainless steel prior to barrel ageing in Slavonian oak casks for up to 18 months prior to release. The estate produces multiple other DOCG wines, including Brachetto d’Acqui, Moscato d’Asti and Gavi. Along with Nebbiolo, sparkling wines also feature heavily in the portfolio produced from Moscato, Chardonnay and Brachetto. Batasiolo was formed by the Dogliani brothers in 1978. Starting as grape growers in 1882, the Dogliani family has a long history in the Piedmontese wine industry. Batasiolo was one of the first companies to export Barolo to the United States.
