Founded in 1928, Domaine Duclaux is nowadays headed up by second-generation brothers Benjamin and David, producing three excellent quality Côte-Rôtie wines from 5.5 hectares of vines in the southern part of the appellation. La Germine made its debut in 2005 and the 2016 release is a wonderfully expressive wine made from 97% Syrah with 3% Viognier incorporated. Medium-bodied, silky and svelte, it offers up lovely notes of black fruits, violet flowers and cracked black pepper. A classical expression executed perfectly.
Producer Information
The Duclaux Family is one of the oldest in Chateauneuf du Pape. This family built up its domain through the centuries and was one of the first founder members of the appellation association in 1904.The Quiot and Duclaux families built up bounds and family connections over the years. The last representative of this family, Emmeline Latour, died on 23rd April 2001. Godmother of Florence and Jean-Baptiste Quiot, she bequeated them this wonderful Domaine.
