2007 | Silver Oak “Alexander Valley” | Cabernet Sauvignon
wRed Wine: 2007 | Silver Oak “Alexander Valley” | Cabernet Sauvignon
2007 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a medium ruby color and aromatics reminiscent of cinnamon, black pepper, cassis and Bing cherry. It has a beautiful fruit-sweet core upon entry, a well-framed mid-palate, and a finish displaying roasted meat flavors and still marked by strong tannins. Given proper cellaring, this wine should improve through 2028.

Detailed Description
The 2007 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a dark, rich full-bodied wine with great tannic structure and mouth-feel. It has a garnet color and a nose of ripe boysenberries, cherry liqueur, dark chocolate, sandalwood and a hint of roasting meat. On the palate, it is mouth-coating and incredibly rich in umami. It has a very long, savory finish with the slight grip of fine-grained tannins. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2030.
Reviews:
- Wine Enthusiast: An elegant Silver Oak from this very fine vintage. It’s soft and herbal, in the way of Alexander Valley Cabernets, with tobacco, blackberry and subtle oak flavors. Drinking well now, and should age for a very long time.
- Decanter: This was considered a great, great vintage in northern California, but not all wines have aged well. This one is a powerful mouthful of very direct, ripe berry fruit flavours that still seem young and aromas of spice and blackberry. A cool summer, heat wave in August, and a smaller than usual crop created concentrated wines, but balanced wines that are under 14% alcohol. (EM)
