2008 | Bertani | Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico
Red Wine: 2008 | Bertani | Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico
First there are the typical notes of plum, cherry and morello cherry on the nose, followed by a great variety of tones: nuts, tea leaves, licorice and spices. On the palate there are hints of red berry fruits, softened by plush vanilla notes, in perfect harmony with the acidity and tannins.

Reviews:
- Wine Spectator: A subtle red, with a hint of smoky mineral underscoring the dried cherry, cocoa powder and dried thyme notes. Fresh and elegant, framed by fine tannins and offering a lingering, silky finish. Drink now through 2025. 60,000 cases made, 5,000 cases imported.
- Vinous: Good full ruby. Reticent aromas and flavors of violet, dried herbs and ripe red cherry. Slightly disjointed acidity and spicy, noteworthy tannins gives this an edgy quality on the tactile, medium-long finish which features plenty of botanical herb and spice nuances. I like this wine’s traditional aromas and flavors, but I found it to be a little fruit-challenged at presentl perhaps it’s going through a closed phased at present. The lack of fruit causes the acidity and the tannins to stick out more, but maybe all this needs is a little time to come around, and in that case, my score will look ungenerous.
